ANNOUNCEMENT FROM ALAN: Books available now for $15.50
BOUND FOR JUDGEMENT By Alan Crichton.
Review by Dave White.

OK, I am not what you would refer to as a great book reviewer.:)
I know what I like (facts) and what I dislike (rubbish claimed to be fact).
However I would like to make comment about a book that has just been
published.
I have read pretty well every 'Kelly' book out there. My library is full
of
them, from Jones to Clune, Brown to McMenomy, they are all there.
I have also read all the archives and heaps of newspaper accounts of the
Kelly story, so it is rare for me to find anything new that can keep my
interest up for more than five minutes.
Such a book has been presented to me by a man named Alan Crichton.

Alan featured in his local newspaper.

A small part of the article in Alan's local.
I might have read most Kelly books, but I still have a thirst for anything
new.
I have had enough of books that are a rehash of previous ones though, so it
is refreshing to read this book of verse.
As Alan points out in this book, there were no easy to find books of verse on
Ned.
I looked through my collection and had to agree, Ned in verse is rare indeed!
Within the Australiana books I have collected are several poetry books by men
such as Banjo, Lawson and Gordon, none of these have kept my attention
like 'Bound for Judgement'.
Maybe the reason is that this book is on my favourite subject (Kelly) or
perhaps
it is the simple way it has been presented along with associated sketches.
Whatever it is, I give it the thumbs up. Like I said at the start, I am no
star reviewer
but this is one of those little books I like to read and like to own.
There are 60 pages of verse approx and 56 of The Jerilderie letter.
The book covers in verse 24 events from the arrival of Ned's father to
Australia
for stealing two pigs to Ned at the drop for the murder of police at Stringybark.
So which of the 24 was my favourite? well I must admit I went straight to the
Glenrowan one first.:) It remains my favourite section:
Four men, all wrapped in plough shares bold,
No comfort sought from winter's cold,
Now dressed for war, to face a foe,
Their time has come, no place to go.........
The above was just a part of 'A Good Fight'.
