ASHMEAD

The Briars and the Thorns - A True Story of the Kelly Gang is an unpublished
manuscript written in 1922 by Joseph Ashmead.

Ashmead claimed he knew the Kellys in his youth.

In my opinion Ashmead made far too many errors in fact to be a reliable source.

His original manuscript (see below) is available at the State Library of Victoria as well
as an edited version by a lady (Louise Earp) in the 1930s.
